WORKSHOP NEWS: September 2009

Repeat visitors to the site will have noticed how long it has been since I last updated the Workshop News. I apologise for this: it’s a result of being pre-occupied with workshop tasks and with writing a number of articles.

I am just about to depart for 14 days in Italy – not sun and sand, but hard conferencing with the Galpin Society and the Magnano Clavichord Symposium, where I shall be presenting a paper about Clavichords made in Latin America.

I leave in the workshop the project I am working on at present: it is a new German fretted clavichord for a customer, which will have split keys throughout for D#/Eb. This is surprisingly easy to arrange on a fretted clavichord as it does not require the addition of any extra strings: D# is obtained from the ‘D’ course and E flat from the ‘E’ course. More about this when I get back.

I have changed my policy on making to commission: click here for details.
